NABS NOW OFFERING FREE, ANONYMOUS ONLINE MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE, TOGETHERALL

Toronto, ON: March 1, 2021 — As an extension to their existing mental health and wellbeing supports, nabs is now providing free access to Togetherall, a 24/7 online peer-to-peer mental health community. Togetherall is moderated by registered practitioners who keep members safe and facilitate the process of peers helping peers in an online environment. Since its’ inception as a registered charitable organization in 1983, nabs has been supporting employees in Canada as a way of ensuring nabs eligible population have access to relevant mental health supports when they need them most.

Togetherall will be available in French to our bec community later in 2021.

“As the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic quickly approaches a one year anniversary, people in our industry are increasingly relying on nabs mental health services to help them navigate the unique and often changing impacts on their mental health. While we are seeing unprecedented accesses of our LifeSpeak digital wellness platform, nabs national wellness webinars and our supportline to access professional counselling, we also recognize it can be challenging to access confidential 1:1 counselling while working in a pandemic from home and that sometimes people crave an alternative way to access supports, often from their peers or friends. Togetherall fills this gap and provides another way to access support. We are all in the same storm, in very different boats, and while our circumstances may be different, our inner experiences tend to converge. Given this, we wanted to provide our nabs community a safe space designed to provide social support through the sharing of their converging experiences,” said Louise Berube, Director of Allocations and Services.

“Togetherall provides an anonymous, open and creative space for people to share and gain support from their community of peers, who are experiencing similar worries, doubts, fears and questions. As Executive Director of nabs, I want our community to know that they are not alone in their struggle and we want to promote spaces that encourage a willingness to seek and accept support from each other. Togetherall is moderated by licensed mental health practitioners 24/7, so we know that anyone in real crisis will be contacted individually and assessed for safety concerns. Togetherall’s clinical moderators also will also sign post to nabs’ other mental health services like LifeSpeak and our supportline.” said Jay Bertram, nabs Executive Director.

“Amidst this pandemic, people – now more than ever – need safe and accessible mental health supports,” said Matthew McEvoy, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Togetherall in North America. “Togetherall is thrilled to be working with nabs to offer the opportunity to join a welcoming community where people can share and seek support.”

Togetherall provides a clinically moderated, online peer-to-peer mental health community that empowers individuals to anonymously seek and provide support 24/7. Founded in 2007 in the UK, and operating in Canada, New Zealand, and the USA, Togetherall has grown into a global community. It provides service to over 250 organizations globally with over 50 million individuals having access to the platform and thousands of new members registering each month. Engagement in Togetherall has soared over the past 12 months amidst a global pandemic with a 104% increase in engagement year over year.

Togetherall is proving to be filling a gap in existing mental health services available to employees – particularly when it comes to engaging those who have been traditionally hard-to-reach. In a recent survey amongst employees who have used Togetherall, 67% say they shared a feeling or thought on Togetherall for the first time that they had not shared elsewhere.
